Banana Ice Cream

Learn how to make this simple, delicious, dairy-free banana ice cream at home. It is so easy to make using only one ingredient – bananas! There is no added sugar, no dairy, and no gluten.

Banana Ice Cream

Bananas are 74% water and cheap to buy making them a healthy, low-cost non-dairy ice cream alternative.
Servings: 1


  • Food Processor


  • 2 bananas


  • peel bananas and cut in half (or 1″ chunks)
  • put into a freezer bag or container to freeze (at least 8 hours or overnight)
  • add frozen bananas to a food processor or a Vitamix blender and blend about 5 minutes
  • open the lid and scrape down the sides a few times to help make smooth
  • serve immediately or freeze


Favorite Banana Ice Cream Flavors
  • chocolate – add 2 Tbsp raw cacao
  • strawberry – add 1 cup FROZEN strawberries
  • cherry – add 1 cup FROZEN cherries
Helpful Tips: The longer you freeze the bananas the better your ice cream will turn out. Bananas with brown spots will make a sweeter and better tasting ice cream.

A low-powered blender will not be powerful enough to make frozen banana ice cream. You will need a food processor or Vitamix to make this recipe.
